⑴.常溫下為白色固體，溫度升至0 ℃以上就不穩定。溶于Et2O、THF、DME、HMPA。它的己烷或戊烷溶液在室溫下能夠穩定放置幾周時間，它與THF的復合物在環己烷和庚烷中相當穩定。
⑵. 有廣泛用途的金屬化堿性試劑，用于Aldol縮合，烷基乙酸、二烷基乙酸、內酯，a,b-不飽和酮等的a-烷化，合成醛和硝基烷；從醛合成酮；合成b-羥酸；三取代烯的立體選擇合成；制不對稱酮的烯醇鋰鹽；制溴甲基鋰；亞硝胺的鋰化，3-甲基吡啶的甲基鋰化；吲哚的合成；氯代酸酯的環化；苯乙烯還原成乙苯。
⑶. 是有機合成中應用非常廣
